He certainly has a romantic way of looking at the world, gravitating towards drama and a flood of emotions. The Knight of Cups is often described as a sensitive soul. Knight of Cups Tarot Card Meanings in General Essentially, the Son of Cups is still learning to handle the spectrum of his internal world. He is intuitive, but that can turn into ignoring logic. He is sensitive to the point of being hyper-sensitive. He is poetic, but that can turn into being sappy. In this vein, the Son of Cups is introspective, but that can turn into being self-indulgent. I view the Knights/Sons as embodying paradoxes, flip sides of a coin (I wrote a more detailed explanation of the court cards here). But he can also be prone to dark moods and hurt feelings. He is still drawn to self-reflection and beauty. He holds them closer so that he can examine and understand them. He’s a little more reserved with his emotions than the daughter. Instead of a rainbow of color in the water, the son has a rainbow of color coming forth from his cup. The Daughter faced us head on, while the son is gazing to the right. He inhabits a more varied, multi-dimensioned emotional sphere. While the Daughter of Cups seemed to be in stable water, the lines in the background of this card are slanted. The Son of Cups (often called the Knight in other decks) still has some of the child-like innocence of the daughter, but brings new levels of complexity. The Retaliator was at the center of many controversies during the later Messer years, when the Navy decided to use Cluster Missiles against a political activist group hiding in what is now Haven, sparking debate throughout the UEE. Although the Retaliator was almost synonymous with the reign of Messers and began to see decreased usage as the military distanced itself from that era, the ship began a surprising resurgence in the private sector. This pilot-centric approach drove the design decisions of what became the Retaliator a heavy ordnance weapons platform capable of handling both fighters and ground targets. Before they started designing the bomber, researchers performed extensive interviews with military pilots to understand what was lacking in the contemporary bombers of the time. Since its introduction in the 26th century, Aegis Dynamics' Retaliator has had a distinguished, if conflicted, history. These include Bomb Bays, Bounty Hunting, Medical, Salvaging and even recharging stations for the Titan armor. The original modules of the Retaliators, the forward bay carries four torpedoes while the rear bay adds two more.ĬIG have stated that they hope to have more modules types in the future. With these living quarters modules, you can turn your 'Tali' into a home away from home. With seating for up to twelve troopers that can be easily lowered to the surface, it also comes with easy access to an array of weapon & ammunition storage units. Each module has lift platforms that lower to the ground for easy loading/off-loading. Transform your ship into a secure transporter. In-game, the modules have been modeled but are waiting on modularity game systems to be implemented. In-universe, the Retaliator was first introduced as a heavy UEE bomber, with the option to swap out various modules to replace functionality coming later. The Retaliator Base is basically an "empty" ship without any modules installed, allowing the pilot to purchase and install modules to customise their design. These include cryo-stasis pods for bounty hunters, medical equipment, recharging stations for Titan armor, salvage equipment and more.Tabber requires Javascript to function. There are more Retaliator modules in the pipeline! As the mechanics behind various persistent universe roles begin to take their final form, we will be developing additional modules to support different jobs. You can also view a detail of the Retaliator in the Tech Overview of the ship page! The Future If you’d like to add a module to your fleet, they’re available in the pledge store until Monday August 17. This means that the designs meets our specifications, but are not yet ready to display in your Hangar or to fight in Arena Commander. The Retaliator modules are being offered for the first time as a limited concept sale. Existing Retaliator bombers being offered again and the torpedo bay modules will include two year insurance rather than LTI. This includes the unladen hull and all five new modules. As a concept sale, newly introduced items will include LTI. The goal is to make additional ship configurations available that give players a different experience rather than a particular advantage when the persistent universe launches. All of these components will be available for in-game credits in the final universe, and they are not required to start the game. We are offering these pledge modules to help fund Star Citizen’s development. Standard equipment includes a retractable dining table, holo-screen, personal storage area and drink machine (front) or a sink, personal storage area, two couches, retractable table and holo-screen (rear) but can be configured to your specifications! Your home away from home! The front and rear living quarters turn your Retaliator into a miniature hangar, complete with space to make your own. Want one bomb bay and one living space? One cargo area and one dropship area? The choice is yours! Living Space (Front and Rear) Now, we’re giving you more options to use your retired bombers in the ‘Verse! You can build your own cargo, troopship or personal transport variants or you can mix-and-match to build the perfect ship. The versions available earlier in the campaign included two bomb bays, for maximum combat punch. Existing Retaliators have two modular bays which can be swapped out in your Hangar. But the Retaliator’s job doesn’t stop there: along with the Cutlass, it will be the first ship to have functioning modular interiors! Today we’re going to present the first five additional Retaliator modules and make them available for pledges for the next week. Time to put the bombs away: modular interiors are here! As you saw during the Gamescom presentation, the Aegis Dynamics Retaliator bomber is our ‘test case’ for a multicrew ship in Arena Commander 2.0. Meanwhile, money was always an issue for the Spears family, with some periods so dark and desperate that Britney would go to the fridge and find it bare. It was Jamie who rescued his fragile daughter when she was at her lowest point. But after having treatment for alcohol addiction in 2004, Jamie emerged a new man and was determined to be a better father. He and Britney have also had their problems. Jamie’s friends described him as “a man with a big heart, a good soul but a stronger liver”. Divorce papers were withdrawn in March 1980. In fact, her mother filed for divorce in 1980, a year before Britney was even conceived. Although she is prone to over-analysing and appointing self-blame for her past troubles, her parents had their problems long before she was born. Britney’s need to perform allowed her to escape the pain and anxiety of home. A girl made quiet and withdrawn by all the hollering and verbal abuse – until she had to perform. Chanda recalled Britney as sweet but timid. When yet another row erupted at their modest three-bedroom bungalow, Britney would seek refuge in her aunt Chanda’s trailer, parked nearby. And as she got older, she would scream and curse at her parents, trying to get them to stop fighting.” “At first, Britney was a scared child and you’d catch her crying but she reached the stage when she just walked off, as if it wasn’t happening. If Britney happened to be there, so be it. “Britney was jumping up and down, crying. We got right into it there by the car, fighting in front of her. He previously said: “One time Jamie was drunk and tried to drive off with Britney in the car. Her Uncle Willie – Jamie’s brother – bore witness to some of the ugly incidents. The rows and fights she witnessed left her a bundle of nerves that others would mistake for natural excitement or energy. īorn in the small town of Kentwood, Louisiana to an alcoholic father and a school teacher mother, Britney's childhood is said to have been deeply traumatic. But those who know Britney previously told The Mirror her problems stemmed from much closer to home. But what sparked the downfall of one of pop's most promising princesses? Unsubstantiated rumours of post-natal depression and bipolar disorder flew, with others blaming the pressures of fame and her 2002 split from Justin Timberlake. After several failed rehab stints she lost custody of sons Jayden, 13, and Sean, 14, and barricaded herself in the bathroom with her youngest for three hours before being carried out on a stretcher and detained on a 14-day psychiatric hold for her own safety. According to Rolling Stone, on another occasion she stayed up for 48 hours straight, fearing her mobile phone charger was taping her thoughts. During one erratic meltdown, she shaved her head and attacked photographers with an umbrella. Then came the series of psychiatric breakdowns in 20 following her split from husband Kevin Federline. Such was the level of concern that aged 18, Britney was prescribed Prozac but she treated it like headache tablets, taking a pill only on the days she awoke depressed. She just dismissed it as “silly ole me!”. Her moods started to swing noticeably, high and happy one minute, sad and brooding the next. This was Britney’s natural state, but heightened by fame. Only exhaustion would knock her out," a source previously told The Mirror. Nights were the only times she was alone and she struggled with that… When nothing was happening, it drove her crazy. "She had trouble sleeping and crying fits. But as would become all too apparent, behind closed doors the superstar was battling a slew of personal demons. During the European leg of her Oops! I Did It Again tour in the winter of 2000, she began having 'massive anxieties' in the middle of the night. Good looks, talent and millions in the bank before she'd even turned 20. On the face of it, Britney Spears had everything. Britney Spears suffered a string of meltdowns in 20 before being placed under the conservatorship of her father Jamie Some may enjoy the steep learning curve, but for others it'll take the fun out of the game. The rest just stood idly by.Īnd if you want to play multiplayer, prepare to have your enthusiasm crushed by players much harder, better, faster, and stronger than you. At one point we told all units to traverse a dangerous canyon, at which point only the two most vulnerable and important units moved, and were subsequently killed. Occasionally the AI will refuse do what you tell it to. There are few other dings in this otherwise shiny teapot, too. The storyline of StarCraft wasn't particularly original in the first place, so why should we expect Gameloft’s knock-off to be any better? For instance, if you’re working on your base and your troops come under fire in another area, there's a dedicated on-screen button to zoom straight to that area. The screen is also littered with plenty of useful icons (don’t worry - you can hide a lot of these). It’s standard RTS fare – again, no surprises – but it retains all the compulsiveness usually associated with the genre. Limited resources are farmed from meteorite craters and energy podiums, with drone worker bots used to expand, increase efficiency, and build new factories, structures, and turrets. It may not be quite as good as current-gen titles – with their expansive, blossoming tech-trees – but it's very well put together nonetheless. The base-building mechanics are as good as any old skool RTS you’d find on the PC. The controls aren’t the only surprisingly well-engineered thing about Starfront. But this is actually more a credit to the surprisingly good touch controls than it is a flaw in the Play’s buttons. These controls, while helpful, just don’t seem as fluid, and you usually end up going back to using the touchscreen all the time. The X button returns your camera to your HQ and the touchpads are used to pan the camera and zoom in and out. The L and R shoulder buttons select and de-select all units on screen respectively, which is incredibly useful when you can’t afford to obscure the view of a firefight with your own greasy mitts. The Play’s physical controls have also been introduced in this version, providing a few useful shortcuts. It’s intuitive and simple, and most of the time it works fine. You can select single units by tapping on them or select a group of units by dragging a box around them with two fingers. This hasn’t changed in the Xperia Play version. If there was one thing to be said for the Android and iPhone editions, it’s that they made very good use of the touchscreen when implementing the strategy controls. Luckily, Starfront: Collision does exactly this. Then again, if you’ve been anywhere near Pocket Gamer in the past you’ll know that we tend to turn a blind eye to Gameloft's copycat ways, so long as the game plays solidly. It isn’t so much a gentle nod toward StarCraft II as a giant headbutt. If you’ve been anywhere near an RTS in the past year, you’ll immediately recognise the influences behind Gameloft’s Starfront: Collision. Having two in a pack means you will always be able to have at least one charged up and ready to go. On the contrary, with the slightly higher Ah, we noticed the use was a little superior to the original. The DC9096 battery replacement was advertised as having 40% more capacity. We thought there would be a significant difference in the power of the battery. Having to fiddle with it to remove it is certainly not enough to put you off buying them. We looked hard to find fault in the DeWalt DC9096, but aside from the slight difficulty removing it, it’s a brilliant replacement. It is not often there is such a clear winner, but today it is definitely the DC9099! There is absolutely nothing wrong with the DeWalt DC9096, but we just haven’t found the necessity for spending out on an original replacement when the Enermall 2-pack does such a good job. So let’s take a closer look at how DeWalt DC9096 and the DeWalt DC9099 differ. 18 volts is ideal for heavy-duty work.Īside from this, the two replacement batteries are quite different. They can both be used on any of the DeWalt 18-volt cordless tools. To clarify, the batteries are actually the same in terms of their use. In this article, we will look at the DeWalt DC9096 vs DC9099. Luckily, there is a range of spare rechargeable batteries that can be fitted to your tools. You should also make sure that the replacement you choose fits your tools. The type of battery determines where you can store them and how you can charge them. You want to look for the Ah, where a higher number implies more power. DeWalt company has a wide range of tools including drills, handsaws, torches, and pressure guns.Īll of them are cordless and require battery operation that can quickly drain your energy in an instant! Now you'll want to extract Universal N64 Decompressor somewhere, and have your C&C64 US ROM ready, preferably in an empty folder, so, yes, create a folder and put your C&C64 ROM in that folder first. I think if the ROM is compressed you'll also need to use the "decompress" function there, but I haven't seen any compressed ROMS so far. So select your C&C64 ROM, check the format, and if it's "Doctor 64" you click "change image format" to fix it. Some ROMS out there are in the format "Doctor 64", and if they are, all bytes in it are switched per two, which makes it really annoying to edit. What we need to do is make sure the ROM is in the format "SP64/WC/Z64". One more thing we'll need to do before getting to the Universal Decompressor is to open and use RTool to make sure the ROM is in an editable format. When it's loaded, and you see it as image, just go to File -> Quick Convert, and it'll offer to save it as N64 C&C. The new characters starred in a series of vignettes, somewhat similar to the "Neighborhood of Make-Believe" segments on Mister Rogers' Neighborhood, and were meant to introduce or reinforce simple moral lessons. The three characters were developed by The Great Jones Studios in NYC. Kimble and Up-Up were performed by Bruce Edward Hall and Granny Cat by McCloskey, a.k.a. The biggest change to the program was the introduction of a series of new puppet characters, including a full costume character named Kimble and puppets named Granny Cat and Up-Up. At that point, they no longer used teachers. One hundred syndicated versions were taped in Baltimore with Molly McCloskey (credited as Molly McCloskey-Barber after 1985) as host. In 1981, the format of Romper Room was overhauled and re-titled Romper Room and Friends. The show used the then-popular Mattel Jack-in-the-box (sometimes called "Happy Jack") for its opening and closing titles, with its traditional nursery rhyme " Pop Goes the Weasel" as a theme song, but, from 1981 onwards, a new original theme song was used. Children were encouraged to mail in their names, which would be read on the air (first names only). Magic Mirror, tell me today, did all my friends have fun at play?" She would then name the children she saw in "television land", saying, for example, "I can see Kathleen and Owen and Julie and Jimmy and Kelly and Tommy and Bobby and Jennifer and Martin" and so forth. Before eating, they would recite the celebrated Romper Room grace: "God is great, God is good. The hostess would also serve milk and cookies to the children. When the balloons were inflated and then released, they would fly around slowly and emit a buzzing sound. Each balloon featured a painted sketch of Do-Bee. Do-Bee balloons were made available for purchase to the public. Don't Bee" to show children exactly what they should not do. He was noted for always starting his sentence with "Do Bee", as in the imperative "Do be" for example, "Do Bee good boys and girls for your parents!" There was also a "Mr. Do-Bee was an oversized bumblebee who came to teach the children proper deportment. The hostesses were always addressed as "Miss", The show also had a mascot, Mr. The young cast, which ranged from four to five years old, was rotated every two months, with many of the hostesses having prior experience working with small children and many being former kindergarten teachers.Įtiquette was a focus of Romper Room. Originally filmed in Baltimore from its inception in 1953, Romper Room eventually moved its broadcast facilities to Chicago and then moved back to Baltimore in 1981.Įach program opens with a greeting from the hostess and the Pledge of Allegiance in American broadcasts. The show was called "an actual kindergarten". In 1959, John Crosby reported that the waiting list in Baltimore was so long, some of the preschoolers on the waiting list wouldn't have a turn on the show until they were 40. For example, when Edna Anderson-Taylor left the KSL-TV version of Romper Room, the waiting list was over three years long. Kids would be on waiting lists for years (sometimes before birth) to be on the show. For some time, local shows all over the world used the same script but with local children some affiliates, starting with KWEX-TV in San Antonio, translated the scripts into Spanish for local airings. Romper Room was a rare case of a series being both franchised and syndicated, and it was also revealed that local affiliates- Los Angeles and New York being prime examples-would produce their own versions of the show instead of airing the national telecast. Romper Room was also franchised internationally at various times in Canada, the United Kingdom, Japan, Finland, New Zealand, Puerto Rico, Paraguay, Argentina, and Australia.įounding American television franchises and syndications The national version was presented by Nancy Terrell. The Helio phone screen is very bright, thus many people choose to adjust the brightness especially when playing a video. They represent really cool features that allow users to locate both their friends and themselves. Helio GPS/Google Maps and Buddy Beacon are also present on the Helio phone. We believe the Helio Ocean cell phone is the first for a native phone IM client. The standard menus are the same as all Helio phones, but the Ocean browser has been upgraded. It is important to note that the Helio phone is a lot better than the phones offered by Windows Mobile. The Helio Ocean cell phone has many features that make this phone convenient and very user friendly.Īs far as Instant Messaging is concerned, the Helio phone has a desktop-class IM client. Helio also introduced Microsoft Office Exchange and Helio file viewer for the business savvy consumer. There's a lot of software in the Helio Ocean cell phone such as AIM, Yahoo, MSN, Yahoo Mail, AOL Mail, Hotmail, Gmail, Helio Mail and EarthLink. The sliding gives a great "clack" sound and is very satisfying to do over and over again, but will probably be annoying to the people around you. Overall, this Helio Ocean cell phone is considered to be a fun phone. It has a 2-megapixel camera (with auto flash) that takes crystal clear pictures and delivers up to two hours of video recording. The Helio Ocean phone cell phone offers lightning fast EV-DO data access on the largest 3G network around, stereo Bluetooth, built-in GPS, and a great do-it-all messaging center that combines text, IM, and e-mail. It has a two-way sliding mechanism, which gives this device the power of a phone keypad, as well as a full QWERTY keyboard. The new Helio Ocean cell phone is quite a stylish phone. It's really loud and yet pleasant, versus an annoying buzzer. It's digital, but has a metal bell on it for optional bell ringing (you can also do buzzer or music). Speaking of a clock radio loud enough to wake you, Panasonic came out with a model called "Big Bell". with broadcasts having gone digital, is the audio portion still broadcast in analog? If not, forget about picking up anything. The clock radio your grandmother has is probably a GE 7-4887B. OtakuN3rd, you'd be surprised as to how many of those older flip digital clock radios turn up on "that auction site." Have a look around and you might even find the model you once had. Ron, I bought my clock radio at the same BX, only 11 years later. It doesn't seem like a hugely difficult or expensive thing to do, yet it's surprising how so many clock radios failed to incorporate it even years after the first clock radios had them. I like your modification to use a backup battery. Impressive that you built your own, CaveRat. Last edited by xevious on Apr 1:33 am, edited 2 times in total. My clock radio(s) serve as the main wake-up device.Īnyone else here use older digital clock radios instead of the newer ones? Is the convenience of cell phone alarms the main reason, I wonder? Personally, I use my cell phone for waking up as a backup. I find it rather amazing that such innovations have been lost in the new crop of clock radio models. Some models even have a gradual wake feature, whereby the radio volume starts out low and gradually gets louder, so you're not awakened with a jolt. You can even preset how long you want snooze to last (as opposed to the common 9 minutes found on most clocks). And when entering the time, it's direct entry via a keypad. The display auto-dims depending upon the room brightness. And ones for position 1 and 2 are reserved for alarms 1 and 2, so you can wake up to different stations. You can pre-program a station for several button short cuts. I was particularly amazed to find that GE made some clock radios with digital tuners! The 7-4880 and 7-4885 are two of them. So many of their products are still going strong. GE, Sony, and Panasonic seem to lead the way. Sure enough, there's tons of them out there. So I started looking into used alarm clock radios from the 1980's for sale. If I want to wake up to a particular song, I can simply use my cell phone for that (any MP3 can be assigned for an alarm sound).Īnyway, I remembered that my alarm clock was not the top of the line. Hey, I just want to wake up reliably with reasonable sound. Everybody seems so focused on having an iPod dock. Sure, they looked cool on the outside, but I was surprised to find functionality quite lacking. I tell you, I was appalled by the junk they had on the shelves. Last year I went looking at various electronics stores. I was finding it a bit of a pain, so I figured after more than 25 years of service, it was finally time for something new. The time setting controls go forward only. I had to clean the volume and button controls with deoxit to clear out some scratchiness, but after that it was fine. I carted it with me all over the USA and to Europe. Well, the thing turned out to be built like a tank. I chose it for a couple of reasons, mainly because GE was known for making quality products and because it had dual voltage, battery backup, and 12/24 display options. Back in the early 1980's, I bought a GE digital clock radio with VFD (vacuum florescent display, looks like LED). Whether or not he lived up to absolutely every reader's standards, he was certainly good-looking enough (albeit a little too old for the role). The casting of a relative newcomer (at the time) Robert Pattinson was based on more than just his striking looks, but that aspect was important to be sure. (We're looking at you, Bella Swan!) Here's how the cast of Twilight should really look, according to the books.īella's thoughts on the "Adonis"-level attractiveness of Edward Cullen were constant throughout the entire Twilight series, and Meyer undoubtedly wore out her thesaurus in an effort to scurry up all the synonyms available to describe his burning golden eyes, crooked smile, and dazzling beauty. Plus, we've got some of the original illustrations to show you how the movie was at times eerily perfect. To prove our point, our brilliant Photoshop team worked their magic on some of the characters to reveal how the movie sometimes got things pretty right and sometimes totally missed the mark. While some of the characters came to life just as written, others were practically unrecognizable. From the impossible beauty (and sparkles) of the Cullen family vampires to the papery skin textures of the Volturi guardsmen to the animal strength of the Quileute pack members, Meyer's attention to descriptive detail meant the cinematic iterations had to be perfectly faithful to keep fans happy. The movie adaptations of Stephenie Meyer's Twilight Saga were beset with ridiculously high fan expectations thanks to how much adulation the characters' looks received through the eyes of central narrator Bella Swan. |
